World War One Brass Trench Art Vase c.1917

A lovely yet haunting piece of art from World War One. In their down time, brave soldiers crafted these beautiful pieces of art from mortar shells. Their intention was to let their loved ones back home know that they were alive and thinking of them. Each piece tells a story and gives insight into the soldiers sentimentality. 

This piece depicts a rose and soaring bird and measures 9 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" wide.
